Day 1 – 23 August  -Arrival in Nairobi – Masai Mara

Upon arrival at 07:25at Jomo Kenyatta International Airportwith Qatar Airways, you will be met by your guide before we begin our scenic drive to the Masai Mara (approximately 5 hours).

Days 2–6 – 24–28 - Full-Day Safaris in the Masai Mara

Over the next five days, we explore the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa's premier wildlife destinations and a paradise for wildlife photographers.

Named after the Maasai people and the Mara River, the reserve is famous for its spectacular wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, and exceptional photographic opportunities.

The Great Migration

During this time of year, the Masai Mara is at its very best. Witness one of the world's greatest wildlife spectacles as hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and antelopecross the Mara River between the Serengeti and the Masai Mara. River crossings provide some of the most dramatic and unforgettable moments in wildlife photography.

The Masai Mara is home to the iconic Big Five—Lion, Leopard, Elephant, African Buffalo,and Black Rhinoceros—as well as cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and an abundance of plains game and birdlife. Our experienced Maasai guidesknow the reserve intimately and will maximize your chances of outstanding wildlife encounters.

Oltepesi Tented Safari Camp

Throughout our stay, we will be based at Oltepesi Tented Safari Camp, an eco-friendly safari camp located just 5 minutes from the Masai Mara National Reserve. Designed with wildlife photographers in mind, the camp offers excellent guiding, comfortable accommodation, and specially modified photographic safari vehicles to give you the best possible wildlife photography experience.

Day 7 – 29 August - Masai Mara – Nairobi

Enjoy one final morning game drivein the Masai Mara until around 11:00, giving us one last opportunity to photograph Africa's incredible wildlife.

In the afternoon, we board a Safarilink flight from the Masai Mara to Nairobi, where we transfer to the international terminal for our overnight departure.

Day 8 – 30 August 2026 - Departure

Departure from Nairobi with Qatar Airwaysat 01:25 via Doha.

Arrival in Oslo at 13:40 the same day.

Full-Day Safaris in the Best Light

All our game drives take place inside the Masai Mara National Reserve. Most days are spent on full-day safaris, allowing us to make the most of the best photographic light—from before sunrise until after sunset.

This gives you outstanding opportunities to capture wildlife in the soft morning and evening light, when animal activity is at its peak. On selected occasions, it may also be possible to experiment with flash photography, torchlight, or vehicle headlightsfor creative night images.

When conditions are safe and permitted by the guides and park regulations, there may also be opportunities to step outside the vehicleat designated locations for unique photographic perspectives.

Wildlife of the Masai Mara

The Masai Marais widely regarded as one of Africa's greatest wildlife destinations, offering some of the finest safari experiences anywhere in the world.

The reserve is home to an extraordinary diversity of mammals, including Lions, Leopards, Cheetahs, Elephants, African Buffalo, Giraffes, Hippopotamuses, Nile Crocodiles, Hyenas, Jackals, Warthogs, Baboons, Vervet Monkeys, Mongooses, Hares, Plains Zebras, Wildebeest, Eland, and numerous antelope species such as Thomson's Gazelle, Grant's Gazelle, Impala, and Topi.

With some luck and patience, we may also encounter the elusive Black Rhinocerosand the beautiful Serval, both highly sought-after sightings for wildlife photographers.

The Masai Mara is equally impressive for birdlife, with more than 500 recorded bird species. Highlights include Martial Eagle, African Fish Eagle, Bateleur, Secretarybird, Kori Bustard, Grey Crowned Crane, Hornbills, Kingfishers, Vultures, Owls, Falcons, and the world's largest bird, the Common Ostrich. Whether you are a wildlife photographer or a passionate birder, the Masai Mara offers unforgettable opportunities every day.

Stay in an Authentic Maasai Village

Meals are served in the camp's restaurant tent, where our chef prepares delicious and hygienic home-style cuisine throughout your stay.

Unlike staying at a conventional safari lodge, living in a Maasai village allows you to experience everyday life, meet local families, and gain a genuine insight into one of Africa's most fascinating cultures.

The warm welcome from the villagers—especially the children greeting you with a cheerful "Jambo!"—is something you'll never forget.

Guests also have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Maasai barbecue evening, and for those looking for an even more authentic experience, it is possible to spend a night in a traditional Maasai house (Manyatta).

The Great Migration – One of Nature's Greatest Spectacles

The Great Migrationis widely regarded as one of the world's most extraordinary wildlife events and is often listed among the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa.

Each year, around two million animalsmove across the vast Serengeti–Mara ecosystemin Tanzania and Kenyain search of fresh grazing and water. The migration includes approximately 1.5 million wildebeest, 250,000 zebras, more than 300,000 Thomson's gazelles, and countless other antelope.

The most dramatic moments occur when the herds cross the Mara River. Here, enormous Nile Crocodileslie in wait as thousands of animals brave the fast-flowing water, creating one of the most breathtaking wildlife spectacles on Earth and an unforgettable opportunity for photography.

The best time to witness the migration in the Masai Marais typically from July through October, although the exact timing varies with seasonal rainfall. In some years, river crossings continue well into November or even December.

Even outside the migration season, the Masai Mara offers exceptional wildlife viewing, with large resident populations of wildebeest, zebras, Thomson's gazelles, and many other species present throughout the year.
